Bergerhof
Our farmAt the Bergerhof there is plenty to see and do,
especially for children. They can romp around and play to their
heart’s content, enjoying their freedom far from noisy streets, and
have real-life experience with animals.
We have two dogs, “Madi” and “Rika”, pygmy goats,
cats and dwarf rabbits, which are all happy to be
stroked. Cows and calves have names on our farm and
you are welcome to watch or help us at milking time or when we are
feeding the calves. Chickens are also a part of life on the farm.
Our Shetland pony “MELARY” can be fed and groomed by the
children and is also available for short rides. But that is far from
everything, come and see for yourselves!
While the adults enjoy fantastic views and tranquillity on the
comfortable sunbathing lawn, away from the hustle and bustle of
everyday life, the children can play in the farm’s own playground.
Our daughters love playing with the visiting children too.
Creativity knows no bounds and they can let their imagination run
wild. A variety of games (table tennis, football, etc.) and
vehicles (play tractors for younger and older children,
roller skates, bicycles, etc.) are available. A great advantage of
the farm is that children can play freely in the open air, without
constantly having to watch out for cars driving past.

The “Berger-Alm” The farm’s own alpine hut has an
idyllic location in a small forest clearing at an altitude of 1600 m
(about 45 minutes from the farm). This alpine pasture is
outstandingly well preserved as there is still an open fireplace for
cooking and the hut itself is over 100 years old. Our guests have
the opportunity to experience for themselves how our ancestors used
to live. The hut is easily accessible by everyone in a short walk
from the farmhouse past a waterfall. It is a great place for a short
rest before continuing your walk to the “Schwörz-Alm”, a hut
with wonderful views which offers food and drink.
From the Berger-Alm it is also possible to reach the “Rieserferner”
hut (2792m), which is surrounded by the famous 3000 m peaks of the Rieserferner group. Taking the
“Mittertaler Höhenweg” path (which
starts above the Berger-Alm) you can walk to the serviced “Kumpfl-Alm”
hut and then back to the Bergerhof on the Franzosensteig path. The
Franzosensteig passes the farm and goes through the Rieserferner
Nature Park to the Lake of Antholz (1.5 hours). Our farmhouse is also the ideal starting point to reach various
other nearby sights and attractions:
- Pragser Wildsee Lake (30 minutes by car)
- Dolomites with view of the Drei Zinnen peaks (1 hour by car)
- Prettau mine (1 hour by car)
- Dietenheim museum of local history (30 minutes by car)
- Shopping in the historic town of Bruneck (30 minutes)
- Indoor swimming pools in Innichen and Reischach (30 minutes by car)
- Open air swimming pool in Olang (15 minutes by car)
Our summer house
Whether to taste a real farm breakfast or South Tyrolian
specialities, to celebrate a guest’s birthday or simply
as a playroom, our little wooden house with its own
wood burning stove is the prefect place. Guests can also get to
know each other here and exchange stories and experiences.

Farm produce
Daily fresh milk, eggs and yoghurt are just some of
the range of products made on our farm. Depending on the season we
also offer our guests herbs and vegetables from our own
garden. We will be glad to treat you to a variety of jams, fruit
juices, herb mixtures and home-made honey. You can also
look over our shoulders as we prepare local specialties such as
Strauben (sweet fried dough), Tirtlan (spinach filled parcels) and
Krapfen (doughnuts). You will be able to try a number of South
Tyrolian dishes here and we are happy to pass on recipes and cooking
tips. |
